REVIEW: L’Oreal Skin Beautifier B.B. Cream

I received a tube of the L’Oreal Skin Beautifier B.B. Cream in the shade 814 Medium for reviewing purposes from SheSpeaks.  Out of all the B.B. Creams on the market the only one I have dabbled into has been the Garnier, which I have enjoyed.  Soon after the B.B. craze spread throughout the drugstore and out of all the brands out there (not those released this year) the one I have heard the most about was the L’Oreal.  Because of the things I have heard I was looking forward to giving this a try.

PACKAGING & PRICE
The product is packaged in a sleek thin tube that contains 1.0 fl oz of product.  The tube has a twist cap which is easy to maneuver.  Prices range store to store, but typically it retails anywhere between $10.99 - $7.96 (the lower price being Wal-Mart, the more expensive being drugstore pricing).

PRODUCT
The look of the B.B. cream when squirted onto your hand looks unlike the other B.B. creams out there.  This one is white with little bead-like things in it. When you apply the cream to your face the little beads (which contain the pigment) “burst” and the color is applied to your face.  The texture of the cream is drier than the Garnier (that I use) and “absorbs” into your face a lot faster.

The packaging claims the B.B. Cream provides four beautifying actions: primes, perfects, hydrates and corrects.  I found it did correct the tone of my face although I didn’t feel it hydrated my face.  Lately, I’ve had a few drier patches on my face (due to my acne treatment and using my Clarasonic) and it accentuated those areas – whereas the rest of my face where I’m typically oily it didn’t make me look crazy oily.

Coverage wise, I’d say this is very sheer – and if I wanted to stretch that I’d say it’s a light coverage.  It did not cover my acne spots; it did not cover any discolorations on my face (dark spots).  It did cover up some of the slight redness I have on my face and it did make my skin one shade (outside of dark spots and acne spots).

I did find that when taking photos with this B.B. cream on my face it does provide a significant white-cast.  Looking at my face in person you would not be able to tell there was anything on my skin but in photographs my face is significantly whiter.

PURCHASING
This can be purchased at Walmart, Target, Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid, Amazon.com, and Drugstore.com.  As always check your stores availability because all pharmacy/retail locations carry different products geared towards their different audiences.

OVERALL
I found this B.B. cream to be decent. It’s not a product I would run out to replenish if I used it all up – I think my heart lays with Garnier in the B.B. cream department.  The product did a good job neutralizing the color of my face but I would definitely need to use a concealer with this.  Not sure how this would stand up during the summer or on a muggy day – of course with it being so cold where I live I cannot accurately judge that portion of it.  I’d give this a thumbs up.

Received my L’Oreal Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream

I was invited to take part in a review of the L’Oreal Magic Skin Beautifier B.B. Cream by SheSpeaks.  I opted into the program and received my BB Cream last week.  I was quite excited to try this because out of the drug store BB Creams out there (not including the Garnier) the L’Oreal is the one that many people rave about, particularly for those with combo/oily skin.  I requested the shade medium because typically when it comes to BB Creams medium is typically the proper shade for my skin tone.  The L’Oreal BB Cream is supposed to prime, perfect, hydrate and correct skintone.

I am going to be using this and posting a full review with my thoughts on the product in the next week or two.  So keep an eye open for that!

QUESTION:
Have you tried the L’Oreal BB Cream?  If so, what were your thoughts?

Shannon’s CVS Clearance Haul

This is one of many CVS hauls over the last few weeks.  I’ve been striking up some deals in CVS and scoring some ECB’s (Extra Care Bucks) left and right on different purchases – so that means more spending on fun things at CVS!  These are two things I picked up as part of CVS’ Clearance sale.  I had been looking for a new dry shampoo because my Suave one is just killing me (the odor that is, it makes me nauseous after a while).  Then I spotted a root lifting spray and I know from watching a few YouTube videos a few of the girls I watch talk about roof lifting sprays/powders so I decided to pick one up. I paid under $2 for the two items on clearance, so double score!

Here’s what I picked up:
-L’Oreal Ever Style Alcohol Free Root Lifting Spray
- John Frieda Luxurious Volume Dry Shampoo

Shannon’s Thanksgiving Eye Look of the Day (EOTD)

I was a total procrastinator on Thanksgiving.  My boyfriend and I had dinner with my mother earlier in the day and we were going to my boyfriend’s aunts for his side of the families Thanksgiving celebration.  I didn’t do my makeup until about 2 hours before we were supposed to leave (total procrastination moment!).  I wanted something subtle so I was going in a toss-up between a few of my palettes and decided to go with the Wet n Wild Comfort Zone palette.  I used the left hand side of the palette. I basically followed the “instructions” of the palette – lid color all over my lid, crease in my crease, brow bone on my brow bone and definer at the very corners blended out with the crease shade.  Super simple and fool proof!

The products I used to create this look:
* Wet n Wild Comfort Zone palette
* Urban Decay Primer Potion – Sin (I know not photographed I had put it down but couldn’t find it in my rush to take a photo)
* Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Pencil in Zero
* L’Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes mascara (top & bottom lashes)

Shannon's Combined Target & Walmart Haul

This is my combined Target and Walmart haul - which were done separately, at different times but instead of making separate posts, I'm just going to combine them into one.  I currently use the Elf eyebrow gel and have no problems with it (other than product getting stuck in the bottom of the container), but I've heard great things about the Maybelline Great Lash Clear so I decided it was time to give it a shot.  I had scoured Targets high and low for a few weeks and was never able to find the Clear variation -- so while at Walmart one day, getting some OTC medicines I spotted the mascara in the makeup aisle and snagged it.

The foundation is a whole new story.  I was watching YouTube videos and somehow landed on a video (by randomly clicking on the suggested videos) where the girl (apologies but I can't remember who) was talking about how she loves this L'Oreal True Match foundation and she first learned of it because of Kandee Johnson.  So I looked that Kandee Johnson video up (which she contours with a darker shade - which I won't do I rather bronzer) and started looking up different reviews on the product.  I decided it was going to be best for me since my skin is SO hard to match due to the undertones in my skin.  While at Walgreen's one day they had a whole display of every shade with a tester.  I tested a few and found N7 which matched the skin on the back of my hand and wrist absolutely perfectly!  I then went grab it off the shelf to buy it all excitedly .... and they were completely out!  Off to CVS - they carried 7 shades but none in the color combo I needed.  Went to Walmart - completely sold out of the shade I need.  [I now realize a lot of people that live around me are N7's!] Went to the Target closest to me, nope not even an option as they only carried 7 shades.  A few days later I went to the next Target up as I was running errands in the area and popped in and found THE LAST SHADE on the shelf!  I then noticed they had concealers so I grabbed the matching concealer - held on tightly because if I accidentally dropped them I'd be out of luck since these were the last shades in the store in my tone.  I purchased and my hunt was over!

Here's what I picked up:

- Maybelline Great Lash Mascara - Clear
- L'Oreal True Match Super-blendable Makeup - Classic Tan (N7)
- L'Oreal True Match Correcteur - Medium Deep (N 6-7-8)

I received my Target Beauty Bag!

About a month or so ago, Target was offering up a select number of beauty bags to those who opted into receiving on on their Facebook page.  When I heard about it, I logged into the page, signed up and got my bag.  Soon after the bags had "sold out" so there definitely wasn't as many as there have been in the past.  I actually forgot I was getting this bag - so when I got home from work I was surprised to see a little Target box.  I assumed it was one of the free samples I tried signing up for on Targets website, but since their sample portion of their website never processes for me I wasn't sure what I got until I opened the box.  I saw the leopard bag and did a little screech - it's SO cute!  I love it!  Then again I am a total leopard freak.

The samples within my beauty bag are as follows:

- L'Oreal EverCreme Nourishing Shampoo & Conditioner & Deep Nourishing Masque
- Clear Scalp & Hair Therapy Total Care Nourishing Shampoo & Conditioner
- Jergens Daily Moisture Lotion
- Tekkai Glossing Shampoo & Conditioner
- Pixi Flawless Beauty Primer
- Booklet of Target specific coupons
