REVIEW: Purederm Botanical Choice Intense Repair Foot Mask - Avocado

A number of weeks back I won a Facebook giveaway from Stephs Beauty. That giveaway consisted of masks (facial & feet). I was finally able to get around to using the Purederm Botanical Choice Intense Repair Foot Mask - Avocado yesterday and I will say I really enjoyed the end result. It completely moisturized my feet (since working out so hard at the gym, my feet have been getting a little rough around the edges) and they are SO soft and moisturized after this treatment that I think I’m in love. With the product, not with my feet … I don’t really like feet, but that’s beside the point!

You’re probably asking what is this exactly? Well, it’s a moisturizing mask for your feet which is supposed to treat even the roughest, driest feet. According to the package: ”With highly emollient Shea Butter, rich Avocado Oil, Camellia Japonica Oil, Opuntia Tuna Extra, and other natural healing ingredients, Purederm Botanical Choice Intensive Repair Foot Mask “Avocado” noticeably smoothes, softens and repairs dry, cracked, calloused feet & heels, significantly improving the look and feel of even the driest feet. This newly designed “sheet-type” foot mask delivers effective moisturizers & healing agents to your damaged skin for smoother, healthier, and more radian appearance.”

The Purederm Botanical Choice Intense Repair Foot Mask - Avocado comes complete with a pair of foot moisturizers, vinyl socks and seal tape. The idea being you wash your feet, put the moisturizing bag on and lock the moisture in with the vinyl sock, sealing it on with the provided tape.

The directions state:
1) Wash your feet with warm water.
2) Open the pocket and wear foot masks.
3) Wear vinyl socks over foot masks. Fix vinyl socks to the ankle with enclosed bands.
4) After 20-30 minutes, put off the vinyl socks and foot masks. You do not need to wash the feet again.

I put these on in the bathroom, standing on one foot in the tub. I will say though, it’s easiest to put these on with the help of another individual. Your hands tend to get slick from touching the moisturizing “sock” and then ripping the other end open becomes a slipping contest. I learned how difficult it was to open the bag as my hands were slippery and had to call for my boyfriend (otherwise, I foresaw myself taking a tumble hopping around). Once your hands are also slick it makes ripping open the other end of the bag a fun experience. Now if you wanted to do this on your own, make SURE you have a hand towel handy and possibly even a pair of scissors to open the ends of the bags. Also if you are doing this in any area where you are NOT going to be sitting for the 20-30 minutes, do take care when walking to that room. Since you are walking with your feet in vinyl bags it makes the floor beneath you slippery. I had to walk like a baby learning to walk to the bedroom to not slip and hurt myself.

I kept these on for 30 minutes while watching a movie and after removing and wiping some of the excess moisture off with a tissue I could IMMEDIATELY notice the difference in how soft my feet were. Now my feet weren’t crazy hard, but they were getting beat up from constant gym activity, even now, a day after using them my feet are still very soft and moisturized. I REALLY love this product and hope to get my hands on some more!

theBalm Nude ‘Tude Eyeshadow Palette Haul!

A couple weeks ago HauteLook was having another sale on theBalm products and the Nude ‘Tude palette was one of the palettes offered up in the sale! The last time HauteLook had the sale, I missed out on it because I realized items were on sale the day after and the Nude ‘Tude palette was already sold out. This time around, I was lucky enough to know about the sale in advance and even though I was at a doctor’s appointment, I was able to order the palette through the HauteLook mobile app! Hooray for technology!

The palette was on sale for $18 compared to the $36 it costs on theBalm’s website! GREAT savings! I didn’t mind paying the standard $4.95 to ship, which brought my out of pocket total up to $22.95.

Since I do not own UD’s Naked palette (I swear I’m the only one on the planet at this point) I wanted to get this as an equal substitute. Nude ‘Tude comes with 12 eye shadow shades which range from highlight colors to bold yet beautiful colors. The 12 shades provided are:

- Sassy
- Stubborn
- Selfish
- Sophisticated
- Sexy
- Serious
- Snobby
- Stand-offish
- Sultry
- Seductive
- Silly
- Sleek

QUESTIONS:

Do you own theBalm’s Nude ‘Tude palette?
What is your favorite theBalm product?
Have you ordered anything from HauteLook?

REVIEW: Stash Herbal Tea

First of all I will state, I have always been a black tea drinker. I drink my tea with splenda in it and that’s it! Lately I’ve been branching out to different tea flavors. I particularly love green tea with blueberry & acai, I’ve since experimented with white tea which I did not like. Anyway, typically, I drink caffeinated teas. There are some things in the world I think are meant to have caffeine and if they don’t have caffeine what is the use in drinking them? I thought that way … until I’ve tried these teas.

Typically caffeine does not bother me at night. I can drink a cup of coffee and go right to bed. It does not wake me up in the morning; it’s the aroma and the warmth that I am looking for in the AM. I found my blueberry green tea kept me up well past 2AM a few weeks ago because I decided to have TWO cups after 11pm. I will now be using Stash tea as my late night tea drink since they are caffeine free!

I made my boyfriend a cup of Lemon Ginger tea and myself a cup of Cinnamon Apple Chamomile tea. I put some splenda in our mugs, put the tea bags in (the lemon ginger I accidentally pulled the string right out of the bag) and poured the hot boiling water into the mugs. I let them steep roughly 3 minutes before drinking and they were really good! I would say the Lemon Ginger was my favorite (my boyfriend kindly let me taste his). It reminded me of a lemon cough drop, just without the menthol flavoring. Nice and smooth. The apple cinnamon was good; you could definitely smell the cinnamon and taste the apple. It wasn’t tart or sour, which was also surprising since anything apple (aside from juice) can tend to sway sour.

The sampler box contains 18 packages of tea, 2 of each flavor, 9 flavors in total. The flavors in the box are: Acai Berry, Blueberry Superfruit, Chamomile, Cinnamon Apple Chamomile, Lemon Ginger, Licorice Spice, Mango Passionfruit, Peppermint and Wild Raspberry Hibiscus. I can’t say I’m going to be adventurous enough to try the licorice just because it’s not a flavor I like on its own, or even in baked goods, so never mind in a liquid form.

Overall, I think these teas are a great addition to any pantry. They’re flavorful and the taste varies, which could branch out to every individuals taste buds.

SheSpeaks FREEBIE: Simple Light Moisturizer!

I received a full-size Simple skin care Hydrating Light Moisturizer from SheSpeaks! How did I receive this freebie? I signed up to be part of their Simple Skin Care program, where I answered a few questions then went into a local Walgreen's to see if the beauty advisor in Walgreen's could provide me with some background information on the product. Upon going into Walgreen's, the beauty advisor was not there, but there was a kid working in the department stocking shelves, etc., and unfortunately he wasn't familiar with the product and just gave me a pamphlet off the display which had a $1 off coupon attached to it. Upon going home, I checked off that I completed the task and a 2 question survey. I answered it and was e-mailed that in a few days I'd receive a questionnaire to fill out based on my experience. All I had to do was type up a 500 character or less scenario as to what I experienced and submitted it -- then was told in 3-5 weeks I'd receive my free product as a thank you.

According to the paperwork received, they were sending out full-sized light moisturizer, moisturizing facial wash or the smoothing facial scrub. I personally own all of these products and love each and every one of them - so I'm glad to have a backup moisturizer now!

Haul: Sinful Colors - Green Ocean

I FINALLY spotted Sinful Colors Green Ocean at Walgreen's the other day! My boyfriend wasn't feeling well, so I swung by Walgreen's to get him medication and on the way to the checkout the St. Patrick's Sinful Colors display was right near the check out. It was an odd spot to put nail polish and I thankfully was able to score the LAST polish on the display! I'm so glad to have been able to find it, I felt like a crazy person stalking random Walgreen's, walking inside, trying to find the 3 different displays (Pusher, St. Patty's and Cast Away).

Green Ocean is a flaky polish, which will truly shine when paired over a darker base. It reflects, green, blue, yellow and iridescent. Think Essie's Luxeffects Shine of the Times.

FREE CVS Polish Haul!

Yes, all these polishes were technically free to me thanks to CVS Extra Rewards!  I had purchased the Garnier BB Cream, but since I’ve been following my acne regiment, my face was in no shape for me to be using cream on it (I wasn’t even able to wear foundation/cover up) because everything looked cakey on my skin. Because of this I ended up returning the BB cream and received my $10 in ECB’s on a gift card to be used at a later date.  Turns out, these days thanks to my new facial cleaning regiment, I’m able to use product on my face again.  Go figure!  I picked up a number of polishes I had spotted that I wanted to add to my collection at CVS.  Most are from the Wet n Wild Spoiled line (which is on sale 2 for $3 this week, BTW – sale ends Saturday!) and also picked up one of the new NYC polishes and used a CVS coupon I printed out online so I only paid $1 for it!

Here’s what I picked up:
-          Wet n Wild Spoiled Nail Polish – Use Protection
-          Wet n Wild Spoiled Nail Polish – Shrimp on the Barbie
-          Wet n Wild Spoiled Nail Polish – I Don’t Drink Cheap Wine
-          Wet n Wild Spoiled Nail Polish – My Silicone Popped
-          Wet n Wild Spoiled Nail Polish – Shuffle the Deck
-          Wet n Wild Spoiled Nail Polish – Papa-Paparazzi
-          NYC In a Minute Sparkling Top Coat – Big City Dazzle
